Abstract
This paper addresses legal and ethical topics raised by the use of Internet for concluding contracts, sharing information, exchanging documents, advertising, selling/buying goods and services, hosting contents of any kind through a serviceprovider, signing any type of documents electronically, using email for commercial purposes and weakening the rights of authors. A description of the current legal framework in Latin America (with the exclusion of the Caribbean States) has beenmade through a comparative analysis of its provisions. Caseslaw are provided as illustrative examples.
